Thanks for another successful weekend of hacking the museum experience! This year, we asked participants to consider the audiences that their projects will target. Teams worked hard over the weekend and eight groups presented to qualify for a prize. Below are the winners of the ‪‎ArtBytes‬ 3 museum hackathon:

First-tier winners of a $1,000 #ArtBytes prize:

Scavenge Art: An app to turn the museum experience into a scavenger hunt.

Paragone: A platform for social way-finding, up-voting favorite art, questions and comments.

4D Odyssey: Augmented reality content to engage viewers with storytelling.

Second-tier winners of a $500 #ArtBytes prize:

Art Discover (Pandora for Art): A suggestion engine for artworks, built by a team of high school students.

Culture Crunch: Teachers and educators from all over the city came together to develop a responsive web platform called Quest/ion that ties field trips to classrooms, using common core standards.

Art How?: A responsive site that gives museum visitors a tour about how artworks are created.

Special award winner of a $250 #ArtBytes prize:

Kinda-Sorta: A web search for finding art that is kinda-sorta similar (or not) to other art.

WAM! The Board Game: A board game about collecting art. The cards used for the game were generated from the Walters Collections API
